There was a time not long ago when Amazon review pages were the exclusive province of product or book fans, detractors…and review spammers.
That has changed, says Georgia Halston writing about the emerging trend in Amazon.
Reviewers have chosen to inject their own brand of humor and levity in these reviews and the social media world is paying attention.
Georgia gave this review of a BIC ballpen product targeted at women as an example:
“It is no good. It slips from between my calloused, gnarly fingers like a gossamer thread gently descending to earth between two giant redwood trunks.”
Obviously, it takes a degree of sophistication and a healthy sense of humor and irony to write one of these reviews — qualities that reviewers at Amazon have in spades.
Whether the trend persists remains to be seen but one thing remains true, humor in social media sells.
